Current Shows

I've spent the last ten years working with local Russian translators on an original version of the classic play, "Uncle Vanya". It has finally come to fruition! (As you may already know, Sacramento has one of the highest per-capita Russian immigrant populations in the U.S.) It is being performed every Thursday, Friday and Saturday Night, through November 1st...at the Artisan.

After I took on the project, I realized it was a very difficult thing to translate Russian into English! Some things just don't make sense. It has been a long and winding road, but I feel we have an excellent show. Our actors have been in rehearsal for over five months, and it really shows. I've included a scenario below;

Vanya's niece, Sonya is in love with a doctor, who has no idea of her affections toward him. But now, the doctor is making house calls every day...and it's not because of Sonya! The old professor has moved back home with a young, beautiful wife. The doctor has fallen head over heals for her...and so has Vanya! You'll laugh, cry, and be absolutely captivated by this debut production at Sacramento's newest performing arts theatre. Join the Artisan Players for a rousing night of entertainment, and surprises as this story unfolds.

I hope you enjoy the show!

Performances begin September 18th and will run thru November 1st. (Thursdays, Fridays, & saturdays – All Evening Performances)

Artisan Info:

The Artisan Building has become a cornerstone to the redevelopment of the Del Paso Blvd. and Uptown area. Voted Best Creative Convergence as a venue in the 2006 Sacramento Magazine, it is truly a combining of artistic design and beauty coupled with practical functionality for the arts in the Sacramento region. Simply said, there is no other venue where you will find the combination of an art gallery, performing arts theater, concert venue and edgy café all in one location under one roof.

The Artisan Building is owned and operated by Capital City Church International. The arts have long been an integral part of the vision and mission of CCCI. It is our desire that through the gallery and the performing arts the Artisan Building brings years of enjoyment to the surrounding region and to the city of Sacramento as a whole.
